Another Saturday - another fantastic performance - another record.
Westbury Park Foxes Y6 Whites hosted Southmead on a cold but sunny Saturday. It was the first time these two teams have met. Southmead entered the league as an U10 team but have strengthened their squad with a number of U11 players. The result has been that they have had some good results recently including a very close match against the impressive Ingleside team.
Given their recent run of form, it would have been easy for the Whites to fall into the trap of getting over-confident. Instead they focused on the task in hand and played with grit, determination and some considerable skill. What is most impressive is their willingness to play for each other - a wonderful team ethic. The result is that it would be unfair to single out any player - they all deserve praise for the way they approach each and every game.
So to the match. The Foxes Whites went into an early lead when Henry finished a well worked goal assisted by Stanley. They then added a number of quick goals to go into half time 8:0 up. In the second half Southmead piled on the pressure and pulled one back. The Foxes then re-doubled their efforts, Caston made some great takes in goal, Jack and William secured the defence and the midfield/attack combo of Tee-Jay, John, Henry, Stanley, Harrison and Joseph created plenty of chances. Caston and Harrison swapped keeping duties half-way through the second half and Tee-Jay went close with several strong strikes but was just off today. The final result was that four players scored hat-tricks to give a final score of Westbury Park Foxes Whites 15: Southmead 1. Goals for the Foxes Whites came from: Stanley (4), Henry (3), John (3), Joseph (3) and Harrison (2). Another great team performance.
Squad: Harrison, Henry (C), Joseph, Caston, Stanley, Jack, John, William, Tee-Jay.
The Captain's arm band goes to Caston for some great 'keeping and fantastic support play.
