The Cup holders overcame tough resistance from Ashley Down in the BSYL Cup on
Saturday. While all of the other cup-ties fell foul of the weather, the
conditions were perfect for football on the 3G at St Bedes. The visitors started
the stronger and dominated the first 15 minutes. The Foxes struggled with the
basics, missing both tackles and passes, but Ashley Down, always first to
the ball, failed to convert a couple of good chances. The introduction of Omar and Tom for the Foxes changed the balance of the game and the home
side started to dominated. Several half chances where created before, with
seconds to go of the first half, a fine corner from Ollie C was headed in by
Dom.
Two quick goals at the start of the second half reinforced the shift in the
balance of the play, as first Danny converted a penalty and then Omar scored with a delightful chip from the edge of the box, both created by Ollie
C. More chances and two offside goals followed, before corners from Sam
were finished by Ed and Harri.
The Foxes man of the match was Nick for an all-action performance
in midfield.
