BGL u12 Westbury Park Foxes 7 v 1 Downend Saints

Christmas Special!

The final match of an outstanding 2014 for the Foxes took place at BAWA today.

With the plans to split the league into 2 divisions in the new year, the Foxes welcomed Downend for what will be the only game between them this season.

After last week, the emphasis today was on getting the passing game going, which the girls did from the outset, with the ball being worked intricately from side to side.
It was clear that Downend were here to defend in numbers, which meant it was all the more important to pass the ball around, rather than trying to run through the opposition. The pressure told and, after a few chances went begging, Lulu fired in a free kick from the edge of the box to start the ball rolling! Soon after, Lily finished off a passing move to make it 2-0.
Daisy added a third, and the Foxes were flying, before Molly lashed home a cross at the far post after Sim had dummied the strike to set it up perfectly.

In defence, the new 3 at the back, were recycling the ball with great skill, playing accurate through balls to find the Foxes midfield.

4-0 at half time and some of the best passing football we have seen all season!

Changes were rung in the second half, with Ella W, Izzy introduced, and some novel positional changes, with Rhiannon having a run out on the wing.

Daisy completed her Hat trick, with 2 further goals, and Sim, concerned she had left her shooting boots at home finally bagged the goal that her selfless work for the team deserved!

An unfortunate late consolation penalty for the away side, caused as Amelia stumbled whilst ushering the forward towards the byeline, did nothing to dampen a great bounce back performance for the Foxes!

Captain of the week: Sim

Girl of the Game: Amelia
Foxes Faithful!
