BSYL - Year 10 Bishopston Youth 2 - 1 Foxes, 28/11

The second part of the Foxes v Bishopston league double header beat the weather - just.

Compared to the week before, where St Bedes provided a perfect playing surface, BAWA offered pretty terrible conditions with the strong wind and a heavy pitch which became increasingly boggy and waterlogged as the game went on. The home side, fired up from their defeat the week before, were clearly more used to the conditions which didn't really encourage the ball to be kept on the floor. They started stronger, with a rejigged formation and looked to disrupt the Foxes passing game at every opportunity.

The first half saw two goals, both from Bishopston and their lead probably reflected the balance of play in that 40 minutes. The second half, which saw the Foxes have the advantage of the slope, witnessed the balance shift as the away side got back into the game. A well taken goal by Henry ushered in a really exciting last 15 minutes as Bishopton sat deeper and deeper. As the game entered its last minute controversy raged as Danny's goal, which was clearly on-side, was ruled out after a very late flag.

There was barely time to restart the game and Bishopston took all three points.

The Foxes should take comfort from how close the game was when the conditions were so difficult. Bishopston took full advantage of playing in familiar surroundings, but the Foxes never gave up and finished the stronger.
