BSYL Year 10 - Foxes 12 - 3 Thornbury Youth, 09/01

Once again the Foxes were thankful to have St Bedes as their home pitch as the continuing rain had no impact on the chances of the game being played.

Having beaten Thornbury early in the season we new that the away side would want to extract their revenge. Added to the fact that they won the corresponding game last season meant that the Foxes were pre-warned about the need to start well as Thornbury are a good side.

Things, however, didn't go quite to plan and the Foxes early lead, a scramble from Danny's corner, was against the run of play. Thornbury were first to every 50-50 and just seemed to have more players on the pitch. This continued as Thornbury took a deserved lead following a speculative shot from distance and from a corner. The Foxes pulled the scores level with a another scramble before, with 20 minutes gone, finally coming alive. The third goal was a terrific piece of team play with Danny picking out Dom, who found Omar to score. Thornbury took advantage of another corner, bundling the ball in at the far post, before Danny scored after great work from Ed, Omar and Dom and then Omar's brilliant goal on the turn from distance.

The second half was a completely different matter as the Foxes dominated and scored 7 more with no reply. Omar scored again before Sam, Joe, Henry (twice), Ollie and a Danny penalty showed the results for an excellent performance over the last 40 minutes. It could have been many more.

Foxes players' player was Henry and the man of the match was Omar, not just for his goals, but his all-round contribution to the team when the Foxes most needed him most in the first half.
