Y3 Girls Fly the Green Flag at BLU Fest

Y3 Girls took two teams to the BLU (formerly Rockleaze) Tournament and came away with heads held high.

One team, captained by Sophie McConnell, won 1, drew 1, lost 1 and came second on goal difference.

Ella T's team included several foxettes playing their first tournament, some of them their first real matches. With no rests, no subs and strong opposition they never conceded more than 2 goals and got a real taste for proper football.

With Sophie Mac were Emily T, Bryony, Anna D, Anna R, Sophie HR and Phoebe. Bryony "superglue" Wade totally neutralised Saffy (who is welcome back to the Foxes anytime...) in the BLUs match by some dogged 1-2-1 marking. In September, the BLUs beat us 7 or 9 or something. Today, Anna R complained that being in goal was "boring" against them. True - she barely saw the ball! Against St Nicks Sophie's team chased and tackled and shot and really could have, might have, maybe have... well, this coach had his head in his hands more than is really safe. A nailbiter we could have won, but didn't quite!

Ella's team should, on paper, have gone down in double figures. Packed with enthusiasm but only entered at the last minute cos there are JUST SO MANY Y3 FOXETTES! But they weren't going quietly. Ella was a wall. Molly H was everywhere. Sophie C and Molly R stormed up front and jolly nearly scored. Tia looked like a seasoned veteran, instead of a girl who only joined at Easter. And Isabel and Emily in goal! Well, you almost felt sorry for the opposition.

All in all, a great day's footy. This lot are so good they are starting to feel disappointed with anything less than victory....
