Y6 Foxes Whites make a big splash in BSYL v Felton 24 November

A week of record-breaking weather of biblical proportions, was matched by a record-breaking win as the Y6 Foxes Whites scored 13 goals - their highest match total ever.

The Whites were blessed with a full squad of nine all of whom ignored the rain to play some wonderful football.   They were up against mid-table Felton who have been improving fast and recently won against one of the other top teams.  It was only  thanks to the availability of a 3G pitch, that the match went ahead.

The Foxes came out of the blocks sizzling, and our captain for the day, John, opened the scoring. A combination of pressure and some wonderful passing moves led to a torrent of goals that included lovely crosses, sublime dribbling and sheer dogged determination (well done Henry!). In the first half, Felton played 4 up front and 2 in defence but left huge gaps in midfield which the Foxes were quick to exploit and went into half time 9:1 up.  The only blemish was a deserved penalty when a clearance went wrong and one of the Felton team was fouled in the penalty box.  Caston did well to get a hand to it but couldn't quite keep it out.

The second half saw Felton pack their defence with at least 4 or 5  players which slowed the goal scoring by the Foxes.  However, more exquisite play (John's dribbling!), a wonderfully taken solo run (Harrison) and pin point passing by everyone from the defence, through the midfield to the attack kept the goals going in.

Caston stayed alert in goal to keep another clean sheet (penalty excepted).  Jack, William and Tee-Jay were superb in defence and going forward.  Stanley, John, Joseph, Harrison and Henry played their hearts out to score some lovely goals. A fabulous team performance cheered on by happy and dedicated parents.

Final score Westbury Park Foxes Whites 13: Felton 1.

Goals for the Foxes Whites came from Henry Sweet (6), Harrison Nash (2), John Elderton - captain (2), Joseph McMurchie and Stanley McCormick plus an own goal by Felton.

Captain's arm band went to Henry for an imperious display and a double hat-trick.  Special mention also to Al Sweet for a well-refereed match that drew compliments from the Felton coach.

Well done all!
