BSYL - Yr 7 Foxes 4 - 2 Golden Hill Sonics, 10/04

A cracking game on a wet and cold night saw the Foxes deserve to come out on top.

The Sonics came with a strong 11 while the Foxes made full use of  a squad of 18. The rain started to sweep across Redland Green just as the game started and the speed of the ball off the surface meant that both sides took a while to settle.

The first 15 minutes were relatively uneventful before Nick picked the ball up just inside the Sonics half, carried it 30 metres and coolly slotted it in. This seemed to fire the away side into action and the Sonics enjoyed their best spell of the game, scoring one lovely goal and having the bulk of possession.

The Foxes, however, never give up and having weathered the storm won the game with two quick goals either side of half time. First through Nick, again, as he rounded the keeper and coolly rolled the ball in to the open net and then, within 15 seconds of the second half starting, Sam L played a great ball to Harry who outpaced the defence to score. 3-1 and the Foxes finally had control of the game. Several half chances came and went, with Sam L bring a good save from the keeper and Ollie C hitting the post, but Danny didn't miss as he jinked into the area and beat the keeper with a great finish.

The Sonics kept going until the end and scored with very little time left with a good volley from a free kick.

Overall, the Foxes should be please with our performance against a skillful side. All of the squad played and made a contribution. The conditions didn't encourage pretty football but even so we managed some good moments and took our goals very well.

Man of the match was Danny for a hard working performance in central midfield which was crowned by a very good goal.
