BGL u12 Whitchurch Sports 1 v 7 Westbury Park Foxes

Foxes continue unbeaten run!

Without a competitive game for 3 weeks the Foxes headed south to take on Whitchurch Sports.
The opposition had struggled in recent weeks to get a full team out, but the girls knew that they possessed a tricky number 10 and with a full squad could pose problems to the Foxes.

A changed Foxes formation meant a 4 girl midfield with Ella moving left, Daisy right and Lulu and Molly in central midfield. Sim and Lily upfront demonstrated the Foxes attacking philosophy, whilst Amelia and Rhiannon lined up in front of Betty.

The Foxes went on the attack straight away, playing into a fierce wind. The opposition were set up defensively with 4 at the back, and looked to use the wind to hit the Foxes on the break. This they achieved with good effect and the tricky No 10  rounded the back to hit a cross that skimmed the far post.

The Foxes were guilty of sitting too deep, dropping back rather than holding the off side line, but with Amelia more vocal the defence tightened up!

Gradually the domination of possession told and the Foxes notched up a couple of goals as Sim finished off some great crosses from Daisy.

With Mara restored to the left flank the Foxes pressed for more and took a 3 goal lead as Daisy ran into the box to fire past the keeper.

3-0 at the break and the wind on out backs for the second half! Izzy came on for Molly and Ella W joined the action on the right of midfield, calmly bringing the ball out of defence with her first touch.

Over on the other side Mara got the second half scoring underway with an brilliant solo run, cutting in and firing past the stranded keeper. Sim and Daisy added to their tally before Whitchurch grabbed a consolation as their No 10 sprang the offside and outpaced the defence to fire past Betty.
Sim fires home!
The Foxes added a 7th before the opposition again ran unchallenged from half way. This time Betty knew she had to close down and sprinted out to confront the stiker at the edge of the box and clear the danger!

So a great team performance, and a confidence boost as we come to a run of tricky fixtures against the teams above us in the league!
