Year 2 vs Sefton Park

This week the year 2 squad split up, so for the first time the Foxes who turned out to play against Sefton Park were a representative sample rather than a full set.

In the first game we showed the lessons learnt from the last few weeks, tackling with commitment and chasing every ball. Isabelle and India formed a great defensive partnership, and at the other end we created several chances - but sadly no goals. As the game went on we were camped in our opponents' half and seemingly bound to score first - until, maddeningly, Sefton Park sneaked up the pitch to snatch a late winner.

In the second game, the same squad kept up their efforts and this time were well rewarded. We kept tackling, but added passing and better positioning. Josh alone could have scored on three occasions, and so it was no surprise when both Ben, and then Alex scored to finish two good moves. Jamie's exuberant defence and Oli's robust tackling (who knew!) ensured that we ran out worthy winners.

So no players of the week this week; it was one of those days when everyone played their part. In a different (colder) corner of Bristol, Phil reports that training went really well and it's amazing to think that next time we will be able to put out a completely different squad of exactly the same standard.
