BGL u10 BLU RED 1 - 8 Westbury Park Foxes

Foxes end the year in style with their best performance to date!

The Foxes made the short trip to Coombe Dingle to take on Bristol Ladies Union Reds in their final BGL match of the year. A depleted squad meant that Amelia was prevented from packing for her mid winter training break to bolster the defence, as only 8 were available.
Following Gangnam Style warm up,  captain Sim elected to play down the slope in the first half to protect Betty's eyes from the low sun.
The first half produced the best 20 minutes football that the girls have played all season. Against one of the current BGL form teams, the Foxes were quite simply superb, with fantastic passing and movement and commitment in the tackle. Two goals apiece from Sim and Mara had the home side reeling, but nobody was expecting the fluid passing around the edge of the box that led to Ella smashing home, after brilliant interplay between the front 3. A goal of the season contender!
Further back Lulu played the sweeper role with Bella, Amelia and Bea interchanging in defence, to minimise any threat on the Foxes goal. Betty showed some great recycling putting the ball into the opposition half on a couple of occasions.
5-0 at half time. We didn't bother with a team talk as there was nothing we could improve on!
The second half playing up the slope was always going to afford the opposition more ball and territory but a further 2 goals put the result beyond doubt before Lulu scored a cracker from 20 yards out that beat the keeper at the near post.
A tiring defensive mix up allowed a well taken consolation for BLU, but overall it was a tremendous Foxes performance.
