Westbury Park Foxes

Minutes of meeting: January 14, 2009

Present: Colin Domaille, Rob Jarvis, Andy Marshall, Simon Nash, Sally Newman, Ewan Paton, Ben Perry, Paul Williams, Rob Youngman.

1. Training. Everyone seemed happy with the way training was arranged on the Downs. PaulW appealed for more parental help in putting up and taking down the goals. All coaches called for action on the amount of litter that is left at the end of a session.

Action: A bin has been purchased with the purpose of providing a place for parents and children to put their rubbish.

2. Friendly League. The friendly league seems to be going very well.

3. Redland Green pitches. Agreed that RGS is an excellent venue for matches and perhaps we could ask for greater use next year.

4. New League. There is general confusion about the new Saturday morning league. We agreed that WPFoxes need to take part in discussions. PaulW and AndyM said they were keen to continue coaching Y7s and would attend a meeting being arranged by Henleaze Sonics about the future of friendly football beyond Y6.

5. WP V Henleaze Dads’ match and Tournament. The meeting heard that we are aiming for a date of Sunday April 26. However, Coombe Dingle is unavailable on that date. We are looking for alternative dates and venues. Clare has offered to help organise fundraising activities – a special pub meeting is planned to discuss fundraising ideas.

6. Tournament entries 2009. PaulW and AndyM were clearly devastated at the thought of Y5s missing the Rockleaze Tournament on account of the Y5 school trip to Lyme Regis. However, they very quickly agreed to abandon Rockleaze and aim to win the Cadbury Heath Tournament a week later. We agreed that WPFoxes would enter tournaments at Thornbury, St Nicks, Frampton Cotterell and Cadbury Heath in an effort to increase our chances of winning some sort of silverware.

7. Money in the bank. Our treasurer AndyM announced a healthy balance in the bank of £1056.80.

8. Wish List. As well as world peace and an end to poverty, we agreed Reception needed new bibs and pop-up goals. Y2 wants more shirts and passing hops – to encourage passing (agreed that every year could do with a bit of encouragement in that department). Y3 wants cones. Y4 asked for more socks and discs. Y5 wants a new kit – and is looking for a sponsor. It was suggested that we could put the name of a charity on our shirts – like Barcelona have UNICEF.

9. CRBs. All new coaches need to be CRBed and we need to give Colin a list of names so he can start the process.

10. Level One Training. Ben interested but busy. AndyM keen to do Level Two and thus become king of all he surveys. (Unlikely while PaulW is head coach, apparently.)

11. Girls’ Day. A date will be set for another girls’ day. AndyW to action.

12. New Foxy Kit. Moves are underway to improve the Foxy rainjacket – to avoid zip problems. And the range of Foxy gear will be extended to include a hoody and tracksuit. Suggested that we could come up with a new t’shirt design for 2009. (Is likely to have jam on it.)

AOB

1. It was suggested we organise a dedicated goalkeeping weekend. AndyW to action.
2. Coaches Swap. Coaches are keen to move around and experience life in different years. AndyW to action.
3. We want to repair the link to Bristol City and try and bring one of their coaches to the Downs for a training session. AndyW to action.

Meeting ended eventually.
