Year Three Girls vs Thornbury, 31st Jan.

Well what can I say? Brilliant springs to mind. The girls put in a great performance on a cold, cold day to record their first victory of the season at the third attempt. The whole squad (Emily T, Emily C, Sophie Mc, Sophie HR, Anna R, Anna D, Phoebe, Ella, Sacha and Bryony) played their part in win over an enthusiastic opposition.

For the Falcons this was their first game and the Foxes certainly started stronger. The midfield were quicker to the ball and always willing to head for goal. The Falcons keeper played a blinder and for a while kept us at bay before good pressure from Sophie Mc led to an own goal and Emily T then ran half the length of the pitch to calmly slot the ball away. Great stuff.

The second half was more even with Bryony pulling off a wonder save, Sacha making a goal saving block and Anna R often being called on to tidy up at the back. Even so the pace of Anna D and Phoebe, the hard work of Bryony, Emily T and Sophie Mc and the good support play of Emily C, Ella and Sophie HR carved out further chances.

With so many great performances it was difficult to pick out a star player but Anna R was deservedly singled out for her second half defending.

Well done to everyone, including the ever supportive (an increasingly freezing) home supporters.

C'mon the Foxes.
