Year 2s vs Rockleaze, 17th October

This week the year 2s faced their most ambitious fixture yet - the squad was split into three teams as they played the mighty Rockleaze for the first time.

Within the first couple of minutes, it was clear that this would be the Foxes' toughest assignment yet as Rockleaze turned on the style, scoring 5 goals in each of the first three games. To their credit, the Foxes kept going with their trademark spirit shining through - Sam R almost bursting the net from eight metres, and Ben scoring a comeback goal.

In the second matches, the Foxes showed great determination; keeping the scores much closer overall and giving Rockleaze a run for their money. For a long time it looked as though Gabriel's goal would lead to a memorable win on the middle pitch, but it was not to be. Instead the Foxes had to settle for pride in their tenacious defending and tackling, some near misses (Lulu and Monty could have had a hat-trick each), and the knowledge that they rose to a tough challenge. Special mention to Connor and his colleagues on the top pitch, who took some big knocks and just kept on going.

Next week, a rearranged fixture against Shire Colts, again at home - can't wait!
