Year 6 in goal fest with Rockleaze

The Year 6 boys enjoyed two high scoring games against Rockleaze on the Downs this Saturday (17 October).

Playing 8-a-side we played two half hour matches (15 minutes each way). In the first the Foxes stormed to a 3-0 lead inside two minutes but Rockleaze fought hard to contain a rampant Foxes attacking force. At half time the Foxes led 5-0 with goals by Gabe, Oliver W, Jack and two from Ben. In the second half Rockleaze rallied and scored a late consolation for a final score of 5-1 to the Foxes.

In the second game the first half came alive with less than five minutes to go. The Foxes were leading 1-0 from a penalty coolly converted by Gabe after the goalie saved his first shot. Then in an extraordinary passage of play Rockleaze equalised, before the Foxes tucked away two more (Gabe and Eddie), then allowed Rockleaze to come back themselves to 3-3 before Oliver W and then Gabe (completing his hat-trick) made the half time score 5-3. Seven goals in just over four minutes meant the crowd got full entertainment! The second half was equally exciting: Rockleaze scored twice early on to level the scores at 5-5 before in the dying moments James Hardwick scored a lovely goal finishing a sweeping Foxes move. 6-5 to the Foxes in a memorable game.

As ever the matches were played in a great spirit against our friends at Rockleaze and we look forward to the return match later this season. Paul couldn't decide on a player of the week because everybody played so well, so a big well done to all who played: Sam, Adam, Oliver D, Ben, Eddie, Oliver W, Gabe, Joe, Jamie, James, Tom, Harvey and Jack.
