Year Four Boys vs Rockleaze Rangers

Twenty Y4 boy foxes descended on Stoke Lodge for one of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the season - Rockleaze away.

Graham's squad in the first match produced one of the most impressive victories in this year group's history, running out 2-1 winners. With ace new "signing" Joey on his Foxes debut, spraying the ball around like a Bristolian Steven Gerrard (or perhaps Frank Lampard, depending on your footballing point of view)the whole team followed his example and produced some passing and possession football which at times drew gasps and nods of admiration from the assembled masses. Goals from Danny and Joey set up the victory, while Archie had a typically solid performance in goal to contain the Rockleaze efforts on goal. The Rockleaze goal came with the last kick of the game, with yet another of the deflected own goals from a corner which are something of an unlucky speciality for this year group.

The second match proved a tougher affair, as the Foxes struggled to keep possession and defend the swift Rockleaze attacks. The score was 0-1 at half time, but three further goals were quickly conceded in the second half through a combination of an outnumbered defence and incisive Rockleaze finishing. To their great credit, the Foxes didn't let their heads drop, and got their just reward when Nicholas took on a good through ball, beat two defenders then finished at the second attempt after a rebound. From the hearty cheer that went up, anyone would have thought it was a last minute winner. The Foxes pressed until the end but ran out of time, and in the end Rockleaze were deserving winners. Particular plaudits to Nicholas for his goal and all round pacy efforts, and to Jack T, still a relative novice to Foxes matches but fearless in the tackle for the whole match.
